Job Description:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) directs all clinical and support-related operational activities of John Muir Health within a unified strategy to include hospitals, Foundation-based practices and value based care. The COO has responsibility for the patient experience throughout John Muir Health’s network. The COO is responsible for identifying and delivering a competitive mix of services aligned with JMH’s mission and strategy. The COO is responsible for balancing necessary care and payer mix to achieve a sustainable level of economic margin. The COO is also responsible for ensuring the effective allocation of JMH capital invested in clinical facilities and resources. The COO shares with the President and CEO responsibility for JMH’s clinical human capital. This includes caregivers, staff, physicians, and community stakeholders.
The COO will lead and mentor a management team to deliver measurable, cost-effective results that make achieving organizational goals possible. The COO ensures that the organization has the proper operational controls, performance measures, administrative and reporting procedures and people systems in place to support the business and its future.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration, Medicine, Nursing, or a related area or equivalency

Experience:

  • Seven to ten years’ progressively responsible experience in a senior leadership position while demonstrating a successful track record of accomplishments in the operations of a hospital, health system, academic medical center or other complex healthcare organization.

Work Shift:

Exempt Salaried (United States of America)

Pay Range:

$872,200.00 - $1,485,500.00

Salary

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.
Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.

Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
